The name Montesquieu
Our name requires a brief clarification. At the time of the Enlightenment, in his cardinal work L'esprit des Lois [The Spirit of the Laws] (1748) the French philosopher Charles de Montesquieu (1689 - 1755) described his view on forms of government and the separation of powers. In doing so, he was the father of the doctrine of 'Trias Politica', which distinguishes between legislative powers, judicial powers and executive powers.
We at Montesquieu recognise the importance of his view and apply it in complex financial markets, separating advice, product and implementation from each other. Only this way is absolute independence guaranteed.
